I've never understood them, just a glorified fuse box.
I sold a van with one on, never really had much to do with them, all that seems to happen rather than having a split charge relay that is automatic you have to manually switch to charge and site, or whatever it says, maybe it's just me but i thought it was a load of cobblers and did away with that side of it and gave it a proper split charge system, then just used the zig bit for a fuse board, which it isn't that good at either.

Or maybe I just totally misudnerstood something?!
I don't see what all the fuss is about.

si the good ones also transform mains to charge your battery when you're on site with hookup and give you several 12v 10a supplies to use. not got one in the van tho but had one in a caravan once

Check the Wiki on Zigs there is a diagram and downloadable manual for use and info, have printed it of myself for reference and keep copy in van, luckily my zig 8 seems to function as it should acording to "manual" hope that helps
