Glow plug wiring

Post by Louey »

Its a never ending saga with my electrics

the bloke I bought my van off converted it from petrol to diesel, in doing so he left loads of wires in the engine bay that I reckon don't do anything but haven't meddled with them because I'm an electrical numpty.

One thing that was done, was the fitting of a push and hold switch that is used to light the glowplugs - well I don't like it and I would love to wire it up so the plugs automatically switch on with the ignition and of course switch off.

Anyone able to help - diagrams would be very useful. If someone local cna help then even better - beer or cash waiting if you come round and help

louey, get you therelay needed from a derv, and be ready topop under and run a wire from front to back........ assuming you have the petrol electric box inthe engine bay, you only need touninstall the petrol carb heater relay and holder and install the derv one in its place, pop the signal wire onto the sender you should already have, and then you need to run a single wire to the warning lamp at the front........

i can do you a diagram, but just not at the moment.......... its easy, honestly

OK, i sort of get the idea, I would need to make a warning lamp for the front as I have a petrol dash - I've still go the plastic box in the back though and lots of wires that I have a feeling I don't need
