T25 REAR TAILGATE???

Can someone tell me if a 1982 tailgate will fit a 1990? im unsure??? thanks dave

yes the tailgates are interchangeable.

only difference is the early ones had smaller key locks.

different pressings(visual) for a rear baddge in the center of the tailgate.

the actual panel fits the van tho and the latch will work

Cheers,will it look ok as im having van resprayed shortly in the process of replacing panels and preping? and will i have to get new lock fitted or can i drill out?,cheers dave

never done it but the early ones are smaller , so it may drill/holesaw out

check the 2 tailgates see what you think..
you should be able to get the early lock rebuilt for your old key if you have it.

there may also be a different amount of holes for the badges as varios badge combos were fitted through out the t25 years . you may want to weld up a few if theres to many -before painting
like the center badge tho, depends on how you mind it looking, early stuff is smoother looking without the later center vw sign.
other thing is weather either had rear washwipe and the other dosent as this may also need extra holes, along with heated rear screen , central locking,but this is dependant on model of van as opposed to year
