does anyone know what that little black doo hickey is/was in the
top right of the pic, it did have a wire coming out of it but it's been
snipped off,.

It's for TDC sensor - only used by special VW workshop gizmos. Dont' worry - you can ignore it.

Some progress, poorly engine's out 2nd hand one arriving tomorrow. Hopefully have it running and ready for mot by next weekend, may even be taking it to vanwest!

Get it gassed, get the green bus sold and we can think about a long term replacement engine
