Frankenstien Engine.... which injectors and pump on a 1Y

Post by mrhutch »

Can anyone offer any opinions on this??

I have a 1Y block and head, and pump, but only two injectors. Can I use the set of AAZ injectors I have or should I change injectors and pump as one?

I also have JX injectors and pump if these would be better.

I want to keep the 1Y normally aspirated for the moment, may turbo it later but only when I've got a spare 1Y in the garage for when it goes pop.

But, if the AAZ/JX pump and injectors should be run with the JX turbo I will do that.

Or... just buy/find the two remaining 1Y injectors that didn't come with this engine.

Just want to build a reliable engine that will not go bang.. not too bothered about performance.

TIA

AAZ Injectors will be ok (Same engine) AAZ-------1Y Identical engine only if on underside (LHS) of the block if it reads 1.6D/TD then it can be used for NA / TD. but when you go Turbo you will have to change the fuel pump for the AAZ one, If you only have 1.6D injectors they will work in the 1.9D.
Run the 1Y with the 1Y diesel pump and not the JX Pump. For reference AAZ engines were fitted to Golf Mk3- Passat Mk3. Seat Ibiza. 1Y were fitted in Seat Cordoba. Some Caddys had them. but mostly had (AEF) in them.------ :ok
