scroll down to 'engine options' and it is written that converters and particle filters might affect engine power. I just bought a 1.6Td and I was wondering if any of you know anything about if it would have such things fitted.

Diesel particle filters are basically exhaust gas scrubbers , they attempt to eliminate the air borne sooty deposits that little fluffy bunnies choke on if you were to park near their burrow. If you like THEY are similar to a Cat but not as expensive to make.
Just look at your exhaust system if it is fitted with a lumpy pipe it is either a Cat or a DPF....

PS If you did have one fitted and then have it removed , don't expect to match Lewis Hamiltons lap times around Silverstone, as the BHP gain will be minimal.....

I had one fitted when the engine was replaced (JX1.6TD to JX1.6TD).
There is a small feeling of choking or restriction and there is a slight increase in engine/exhaust drone.
Overall it is not so noticeable and I can still get an indicated 140kmh on the speedo (I need all three lanes of the autobahn though).
The big plus side for my is the tax reduction, from 720 yoyo to approx. 360 yoyos.

Ahem! I mean while I am aware that small mammals and rodents may not like the delicate scent produced by a 1.6Td, they should adapt and evolve their behaviour so they don't live in the ground. If we can build tower blocks, so can they! Rabbits could live in trees if they wanted to. Damn things, with their little beady eyes and twitchy noses
I don't think we're too far away from emissions charges like those in Germany and I do think that once the govt figures out that they can tax our LPG,Diesel etc engines and heaters too, they will. After all, an emission is an emission and air can be taxed.
The day has actually arrived where we are paying for air. If you've never been to India, China or Russia you won' know why whatever we do in UK to minimise environmental pollution, it makes absolutely no difference because it's ONE environment, not a politically restricted, local one. I used to breathe more shallowly in India because I was that concerned about inhaling the pollution in some places. Pollution charging and tax is utter boll*x because it does nothing to prevent other countries from producing more pollution in one day than the UK does in one year! If you don't believe me, go to India!
So endeth the sermon for today, go in peace.
