I finished converting the rear R'n'R bed base to a tool box. This has been on my 'to-do' list since buying the van.
The top of the old box acted as lid and was a paid to access and it was'nt a great storage space because it was just a large space.
Now most of my tools are in the drawers with easy access
Photos are at the link below, any views or ideas welcome.
Really impressed with your efforts. Very clever use of the space and an ideal place for tools and spare bits. Looks good too.
Thanks for sharing with us.

looks good! Thought about doing something similar for ages but never quite found the time. I hate having to take everything out of the boot to get access to that bit of storage! Well done!
Thats well good mate , i'm about rip my interior out and was thinking about doing something under the bed , i hope you dont mind if i do something along the same lines
T'Onion no worries, if you need any measurements let me know.
I used blockboard for the top of the base, its a lot lighter that MDF
Also at the back of the box and halfway down each of the sides I stuck more foam for the boxes to buffer against when driving. The base has also halped with the soundproofing
Good use of space - especially where it is not needed for anything else (unless you sleep on your back and have a 3 ft long nose) .
How did you adjust the rest of the R&R height? Presumable the whole R&R mechanism needs mounting a few inches higher, with the same increase in seat height.

Hi HP
RnR was already set this way but the old box was a waste of space.
Im sure you can adjust your hinges or buy ones that allow you to have a raised back, just had a quick look on JK and they have this
A bit expensive and i dont think the storage is up to much, if you had the hinges you could easily make the storage for £30-£40 squid.
