Hi everyone,whent to replace the rotor arm and found that the one i purchased was as a normal arm would expect but the arm that is on there is a red flat disc type with a small spring thinggy on it any one aware which one is correct 1980 2ltr air cooled...Thanx. engine runs with both by the way.... :D

It's a rev limiter. Cuts out with centrifugal force I think. Mine runs on both too!

found exactly the same on my 1990/1 DG - left the old one for now.

Would I be correct in guessing that the limiter one exists for a reason (i.e. overrevving is relatively easy and pretty unhealthy?)
