starter trouble

Hi all just completed my 2.0l tall block digifant swap but was having trouble with lazy starter got a new one from gsf and noticed the difference when spinning the bus over straight away. Mot,ed the bus this weekend then took if for a run after. tried to start the bus when stopped for a few minutes but all im getting is a clunk from the starter bear in mind its 2 week old and the bus has been started a handfull of times.When i go to the bus the next day it starts fine is there any common faults or wot should i try this weekend cheers karl............Ps took the van for a run last night wed 19th got 2 mins down the road and it cut out totally gona have a look on sat wot bush am i looking for with reguards to the starter .............

Check out all the cables going to the starter - make sure they are in good condition - replace if necessary.

Just before you do that, are you sure you havent got a flat battery ? Sorry if thats the first thing you thought of but i had to ask :)

Did you replace the starter motor bush? It wont cure a clunk! but helps the lazy starter.

Check the feed to the solenoid and the earths to the gearbox and engine.

the bush is very important, and mine didn't start when the engine was hot until I changed the bush and the starter motor. it just turned over very slowly, until the battery ran flat.

Thanks for the help soz its taken so long to reply to you guys sorted the starter it was the positive from the battery i relugged both end and its been fine just got to sort this oil pick up problem?????????????
