I recently had to run a 10.0mm cable from my leisure battery behind the passenger seat, under the van into the van battery compartment behind the drivers seat and behind all the fitted furniture to a new inverter fitted under the 'zig' unit.

I used the existing 1.0mm cable as a draw wire to pull the new 10.0mm cable in; that went out through the bottom of the battery compartment, behind a crossmember between the spare tyre and the fuel tank and up into the battery compartment on the other side. It was a lie on your back getting crap in your eyes and scraped knuckles job. If you have access to a pit, a hydraulic ramp or even just the ramps you drive the front onto it'll help. It's going to be a struggle whatever you do unless you run it internally......
No, I didn't have the foresight to take any pictures, sorry.

if that 5 amp cable is going to need to be more than 3 ft long, make it 15amp, or you will suffer voltage drop and the heater wont start when you most need it to, they have a cut out if the voltage at the heater falls below 11.5vdc..... so thicker cable helps
