ok i`m thinking rather than wire up a leisure battery and then swap feeds from the fuse box so stereo, interior lights etc run from a separate fuse box powered by the leisure battery.
would it work if i just used a separate battery for starting in the rear and power every thing else off the leisure system.
what do ya fink.

the fuse box is now powered by the main battery and the cranking (starting) system is also powered by this system.
if you remove the cranking system from this circuit is only one circuit your`e messing with and then just relay the start system from a new battery in the engine bay. you`d still have to wire a split charge system but with system it wouldn`t matter what you left on. ie lights, radio, 12 volt appliance`s the van would still start.
i`m just not sure if the split charge system would be enough to charge the leisure side concidering the new loads put on it.
does that make sence.

You'll find almost every camper in existance uses a split charge system to charge the leisure battery without problem so i wouldn't worry on that score.
I have a 110ah leisure battery which runs my headunit, 600w amp, 12" sub, dvd player, 15"screen, lights, water pump and propex all charged up using a simple split charge relay system.
One thing i did do though was fit a 90amp alternator from a Golf to help it a bit.
