Hi
1.6TD engine (Jx) no Power Steering or Air Con!
Have just picked up a replacement Belt from Vw
& have realised that they have given me the one for the water pump to the Alternator & not the one for the water pump to the crank!
I had given them the Vw part number off the old snapped belt & told them where the belt fitted but when I picked up the new one & noticed that the part number was differant they told me that the old part number had been superceded by this one!
Question 1, Where can I get another fan belt (9.5 x 6.43)? I cant find any online! (or will this one fit? 9.5x600)
Question 2, How do you fit the Bl**dy thing? I can see that to fit the other one you loosen the alternator but what do you have to loosen to fit this one?

Some JX's run a single belt that does both ansileries, seems to be a mine field. Single belts are ajusted by the altinator, don't know about the twin belt as mine isnt one.
Take the broken remains of your old belt to a motorfactor and they'll probubly match it. If that doesn't work try a tractor place, they'll probubly have any belt imagineable, cheeply.
