Stereo Headunit fitting

Post by Poseidon »

I have had a problem for sometime with the fitting of a headunit in the front of the van.

There isn't enough room to get the unit all the way in so it's flush with the dash as there are quite a few cables in the back.

has anyone else had this problem and solved it?

Cheers

Modern headunits seem to foul on the heater cables. Take the ash try out then you have better access. I just tried to pull my cables either side of the stereo as I pushed it in, then used a fair amount of brute force for the last half cm. Keep an eye on it as stereos can get quite hot so don't want it to melt cables, but mines been fine for months.

T25's aren't the only vehicles that require a bit of brute force for the last cm.

I had another go at it today...

I have it pretty much in now, it seems to have a nasty habit of 'popping' back out. I don't think that the headunit is properly locking into the cage :(

Looks like it will be a case of brute force and ignorance! (and hopefully not breaking the stereo!)

Are you using a cranked arial lead or adaptor? Mine fits fine but wouldn't have without it.

I had this prob and sort of solved it as above - but I also used a big cable tie to hold it in - adds some security to it as well - you have to access via the ashtray hole.

had similar problem. used a right angle ariel fitting and carefully tucked all cables out of way of unit. Lastly bent in the lugs that hold the unit in the cage to make a good lock. Unit has to face slightly down as the back rides up when pushed fully in.

from memory i had the same problem solved by removing a redundant metal bracket in the dash i think used for speaker mount in dash.

this made room for wires to fit proper
