difference between 4 and 5 speed linkage.

difference between 4 and 5 speed linkage.
Besides the front mount how hard would it be to change from a 5 speed to a 4 speed [don't ask why, there's a method blah blah blah] . Some people say the front box and linkage is different, but isn't reverse in the same place? And if so then couldn't i just ignore the 1 st gear dogleg.
