Alternative alternators

Post by JC »

The alternator on my 16TD has packed up and I need to replace it today! Assuming I can't get one from my local GSF can anyone tell me what other VW/Audi cars this alternator was fitted to so that I can source one from a scappy.
Many thanks JC

Bear in mind that are they are so easy to take of ( 5 mins ) you could take the old one off when you get to the scrappy and take it in to compare with others in there.

I reckon there will be no shortage of ones that will fit on lots of Bosche equipped cars :)

ll factors had one but it had a different pulley on it.
Good link isishkeet :)

It reminded me of a time well away from home when I had to get a new alternator for my van.

A local small factors had one but it had a different pulley on it.
They kindly offered to swap the pulleys over for me.
Flip flip - what a job it was to get the pulley off my old one, they had to heat it almost red hot and with it in a big vice hammer the heck out of it before it would come off !! Took about an hour of messin !! You wouldn't get that service from Partco would ya !!

So beware, alternator pulleys can be a s0d to get off.
