Engine code anomaly

Post by richardcn »

Hi all

Now there's a daunting word, anomaly! Anyway I thought I'd check my registration document having realised that the engine code might be on there and if not to pencil it in and...

...they don't match!!! EEK!

The actual engine fitted is a DG 1.9 petrol but although the log book does say 1.9 and Petrol the engine code is a KY****** which I believe is a deisel!

Well actually I'm not too worried as I have all of the paperwork from 2 previous owners going back years (and I don't remember seeing a engine change let alone fuel type change) but has anybody come across this before and is there any way of telling how a vehicle started out from the chassis no or other means?

Thanks
Richard
