New cam belt all fitted and timed up, new filters and gaskets fitted throughout.
All of this and the diesel wont make its way to the injectors and you can forget abot making its way into the cylinders for the nice new glow plugs and injectors to make the bugger go BANG
What do I do now? the plan was to get her running, mot'd and to the freeze this weekend
All ideas welcomed apart from the burn it, scrap it etc

Have you tried filling the fuel filter with fuel. If you have a vacumn bleeder then bleed the diesel upto the pump. Assuming all the timing is correct (worth checking twice to make sure) under cranking fuel should be pumped out at the injector pipes. Is the stop solenoid wire connected and working as this will cause no fuel being drawn up to. Is there fuel in the tank? silly question but have been caught out more than once by this. Good luck.
If you are desperate and you are sure that the problem lies with the fuel not getting to the pump you can try sucking the fuel through.
Disconnect the pipe going in to the injection pump and clean it with a rag, then carefully and slowly suck on the end, after a time you should get fuel coming up the pipe. When this happens reconnect the pipe and crank her over. If you have a strong battery she should start or at least fire.
You can make this process shorter by filling the diesel filter with fuel before you screw it in to place.
I have done this several times without any side effects to my health, just don't swallow!
First as previously mention by Big Red Bus make sure that the fuel stop soleniod is connected.

this is located on the back (towards front of van) of the fuel pump. There should be a single wire with a spade connection - to check it works, switch ignition on and pull off and push back on the spade, it should click.
Ok now I am getting pi**ed off
All timed up, cam and fuel pump, fuel is running through the system and is entering the cylinder but it isnt firing.
Oh I have changed the glow plugs, the injectors will get changed tomorrow, the electrical connection on the injector is working with the ignition. I am now getting really frustrated.

The inlet&exhaust valves are closed and opened by the camshaft.Shims are used between the valve stem & cam lobes for a suitable clearence .Check the shims which can be replaced in various thickness are giving you a correct setting for each valve. If the valves are not closing properly or open it wont start.Sorry i carnt tell you the valve clearence others on here may help.
All of the valves were checked and all are operating correctly

I know you said you replaced the glowplugs, but are you sure theyre getting power? How did you check the timing? And when you say the injectors are getting fuel, did you disconnect a HP pipe to check this?
Sounds like injection pump problem timing or other. If the engine ie at tdc & camshaft setting was incorrect there would be catastropic falure due to valve interference to piston.
Thats a serious thought power to glow plugs, that one has not been checked. What voltage do they run at ?
TDC set with the bar accross the back of the cam, with the indent on the clutch centred on the marker and injector pump set by lining up the wheel groove to the marker on the housing.
I think thats it anyway there are no valves catching
That the timing anyway

That the same as taking the mark of the wheel/cresent insert from the tappered spline jobby and lining it to the casting.

Check that theres power to your glowplugs first and foremost. Theyre 12v. Work from there. It sounds like everything else is at its base setting so it should theoretically be working, or at least kicking and trying to start. Is it doing that?
Thank you all very much especially Mr Airhead
It turns out that its a dickie and now terminal, as in its DEAD, glow plug relay
So it will up and running when I get the relay jobby sorted out
The bad news is we are not going to make it to Dubfreeze Unless I can getr her up & running & MOT'd by friday.
Again thank you all
