hi
right i have a 1982,1.9L, Aircooled, twin carb, and it leaking fuel from round the fuel pump area. I saw it when i was out had a look couldnt see where it was coming from wasnt far from home so drove home and it had stopped and dark so i left till the morning. when out turned the engine over and it was leaking then i got changed and it stopped.Had a good look couldnt see a cracked pipe or any thing and it has not done it any more and it been 3 days done like to drive it if some thing gos wrong any ideas.

could well be the hoses even if it doesn't seem obvious, had the same prob with mine last year, changed all the hoses and now its ok! they break up inside and its not till you've tugged one off and had a look that you can see.
if its the fuel pump, you can buy an overhaul kit for it, bit fiddly but better to be safe and all that, especially since its next to the exhaust

One fuel line from each side join in a T piece hidden at the right hand side below airbox bits. Another line then runs down to the fuel pump. From the pump they run to the tank via the universal fuel filter. Just change all the lines at once. Cost is buttons. My leak was actually coming from the RHS carb junction but was real hard to see as it wouldn't do it on tickover but exploded when i hit the gas.
These can easily pish out fuel and set fire to yer van so sort it asap!
