Help with wiring a westfalia interior....

Post by amazingdave »

Hiya,

I've been fitting a westy interior to my syncro fire engine over the past few weeks and have got a fair way along. The loom is fitted where it should be (I think!) and all the connectors to the fridge, water pump, and tap are connected...

So what I'm left with is connections to the battery to make, connections to the water tank and the odd little black box in there and an earth to find?

Plus there's what I imagine is the charging setup for the radio battery which I hope to use for the leisure setup.

So here's the photos, any help much appreciated...

positives?

Where do these wires go? and none of them are brown, wheres the earth?

Here's an overview of the battery area...

And here's the water tank connections. There's more connections on the tank than wires, does the black box combine the signals? and which colour goes where?

And finally, in the starting battery box is this setup, there is a battery already under the drivers seat that says 'funk' on it, german for radio, so I presume that it's some sort of charging setup... Any ideas whether it's usable for what I need? the little black pod says mobitronic on it and has a red LED, the spade connectors to the relay are not connected at present...

did you get the fuse box on the inside behind the front drivers seat?
the bottom pic looks like an aditional upgrade and not like mine.
plus there are two types of tank wiring one has the pump submersed the others not.
hope this helps a bit.

I think I got the fuse box.. (3"x2"?) and I can see that the ring connectors which come from that are my positives for the battery, the bits that I am confused by are the wires with spade connectors that are to the right of the battery box, and where the whole system gets an earth from...

Oh and my tank has a submersed pump which I've got connected and about four connectors up the side of it for the level sensor, but there aren't enough wires to connect all of these, which wires go to which point on the tank?

Thanks

Mines submersible too so I will post a pic of the water tank connections for you on monday, only I'm working tomorrow.

Right thinking about it I'm pretty sure the second pic is the 12v connection to the the fridge, theres a relay on the top of the fridge almost positive about that.
The other end of the white cable in pic 4 is for the sub pump, I think.
The others could be for the interior camping light above the cooker, then theres the wiring to the indicator LED's on the kitchen cabinet if you have them.

Hiya,

Any chance you could take a pic of the leisure battery so I can see where the spade connectors should go? I'm wondering if there is a relay under the seat that they should plug into?

If I were to hazard a guess I would say that the relay under the seat in your pic is the split charger, the other the fuse box we spoke about earlier and that mobotronic thing is probably an alarm.
Thats a guess though.

Thanks very much for the pics, they clear things up quite a bit...

I think the mobitronic thing is some sort of battery saver to stop the engine battery being pulled too low by the radio equipment, but that is a bit of a stab in the dark :?

Got my Eberspacher installed under the back seat but my fuel pipe is too short to reach my little diesel tank (in the engine bay battery tray) so things are on hold there for a bit.

I'll be connecting the wires to the leisure battery tomorrow so wish me luck!

Thanks again
