Who would you trust your van with?

Post by Ernest »

I am trying to find the address of a company called VW Kombinations. They were in Welling sounth-east London but I think that they have recently re-located to Plumstead south east London. I am looking for a really good campervan garage in south London or north Kent and I understand that this company is amongst the best. Failing being able to locate VW Kombinations ...... do you know of another campervan garage in the area that you would reccomend - ideally one that can cope with mechanics, electrics, and bodywork.

Brilliant site!!

jacks garage used to have a really good reputation, if a little expensive, but since Terryvanman sold his t25 and bought a brandnew t5, its changed hands, and im not sure the new owners are as t25 freindly, they dont seem to honor our discounts now.......

Hi I live in Deptford and always take my 1981 Aircooled to vee dubs, the chaps name is James he only seems to work on Aircooled, has done work for mates and really knows his stuff. He is reliable and trustworthy give him a ring 02083172973. Located in welling, if your vans not Aircooled give him a ring if he cant do it he will advise.

Thanks very much for these suggestions. It's a shame I can find VW Konnections as they must be out there somewhere. But Welling is quite close to me so, although mines a water-cooled, I will probably give James a call and see what he might suggest.

As a relative new-comer, or rather returner (I had a 1977 Bay back in the early 80s) I really do appreciate this site - It's a mine of information on VW campervans.

To be perfectly honest i would just stick to a normal garage that you have had a good experience with and can trust. Last year I took my van to an air-cooled VW specialist in Devon for its MoT. They had my van for ages to do a few simple jobs, had crap customer service and charged a fortune.

I've just got my van back from this year's MoT. I took it to a local garage that gave me good service for some tyres on my Scirocco (through blackcircles.com), so I thought I'd give them a try. They gave me a quote, which they stuck to even though the work took longer than anticipated, and kept me informed of what was going on. Great service, reasonable prices.

Obviously some specialists are good value and give a good service, but I suppose I'm saying don't go out of your way to use a specialist when a local garage can be just as good, or better.
