Gasure or local?(ish)

Post by bernard1973 »

I'm definately going to get my Westy converted in February (2.1i, watercooled). My last van was gassed so I understand the benefits!
I've noticed that gasure get a lot of mentions on this forum - and a lot of positive feedback.
I live in the North East and a company called yorkshire Autogas can do an Italian conversion for £795.
Has anyone got any advice - is the gasure conversion better?

Thanks

I can only comment on what i have had done, as stated Steve not only provides top quality work but is also a fan of t25's (of all v-dubs i guess) so knows them inside out.

I would pay the little bit extra and take a trip down.

You won't get better than a Gasure fitter
cause the gasure fitter is Steve.
You won't get hassle whilst he swings his tassle
cause yer motor goes without a rattle.

How much for this one Steve ???

Yorkshire autogas are top notch.

I did an installation course with them, and they certainly know their stuff.

As for the T25 side of it, I can't comment, ask them though, they are really approachable.

well worth the trip down he has just done my van and I am very happy with it. The good thing about him is that you can phone and ask a question and you get the answer.the quality of the work is second to none

Well I got it done last week and Steve was great - although we had a few problems (on my side!).
We set off from the North East on Thursday at 4.00pm meaning to stop at a pub outside Chester for the night. I put £35 in the tank but it was all gone by the time we got to Leeds! The van was running terrible, so I pulled off the M1. I got to the top of the sliproad and the engine cut out - totally dead.
Luckily I've got recovery with Footman James - unluckily I didn't have any details with me. Luckily I remembered that the wifes brother was probably staying in our house while we were away (I wasn't supposed to know).
One phone call later and i had the number for the breakdown. An hour later he pulled up, and I had to put up with the usual stuff about the VW engine being difficult to work on (I've had this with Ford Escorts - so what is easy to work on?). The alternator was goosed and you should have seen his face when I said I needed towing to Chester
We eventually arrived at the Industrial Estate at about 11.00pm with not a pub in site. Thank god for the bottle of Glenmorangie I'd left on the back shelf - though no pink wine for the better half.
When we woke up in the morning I walked over to Steve's place and he was great - got the van started and over to his. He then got us dropped off at our B+B by his dad - excellent service!
So - can't remember much about the Friday as we were very drunk, but somehow I managed to walk back to Steve's place on Saturday morning. When I got there - bad news. The battery had been on charge all night and wasn't taking a charge so Steve lent me his van to get a battery - nearest place Halfords - £95
Anyway, the final price from Steve was very reasonable and the system is much better than the one I had in my previous van. Also, I think it does make a difference in that the bloke obviously knows everything about T25's. And he understands about customer care.
And he only charged me £25 for the secondhand alternator :D
So to conclude - bad weekend (financially - Chesters a canny night out  ), made better by Steve at Gasure. I've had some horrible experiences with garages but this bloke can be trusted.

wouldn't touch gasure with a barge pole......

.....but that's because I have a diesel

Seriously, don't know the other company so I can't give an opinion, but Steve was the founding member of this club (along with Baxter) and has been converting vans and other vehicles into fart smelling machines for years
