Type 25 Restoration

Post by brownhornet »

Hi Guys,

i bought a type25 1990 transporter last year (pictured in profile), and i need a really good garage/company to give it a full face lift. Full body respray, fitting all electrics, new full bed, new canvas for devon pop top, installation of fridge, water heater, propex blow heater etc.

I have been searching for someone to carry out this work to no avail, I know that perhaps I should try and do this work myself, but this is a near major project.

Any help, ideas or directions would be much appreciated.

Thanks guys.

I doubt you'll find a company to do everything all in one place, there are people on here who will re-fit the inside for you (Timber technician) and there a few painters that have been used.

This chap timber technican is this his user name, and i have considered doing this work myself, cos a full respray quotes of 3 grand alone have been given.

and having visited a few webistes and links on club 80-90 have put the bug back into me for doing this work myself, because all i want internally is a cupboard to hold the fridge, a full sized r'n'r bed, doulbe front cab seat, a full respray and the roof fitted with canvas.

so to be honest your absolutley right perhaps i should undertake this project myself, and as you have stated there are louds of members out there that can lend a hand with hints tips, and info.

just need that kick up the butt to get me started. Thanks for your info guys, cheers.

You can pay £2000 to get it painted, bed £260ish, propex £400, Fridge £300 then the labour? etc etc.

If all you have is a basic panel van and your looking at turning it into a fully blown camper and want to pay someone to do it with new kit, you would be better off flogging it and buying a camper.
£5000 should get something nice and tidy.

have also considered this one too, and there is a point that you can reach before you reach the point of no return. body is solid no rust, engine runs, and purs perfectly.

too nice to sell and start all over again, took the best part of a year to find this one.

it depends what look you are after mate i have done all the work on my van myself it was a right shed when i got it its by no means perfect but it depends on what you are after personal i just wanted a bus that was pratical clean and that i could use if you are after a show bus then you are best getting the pro's involved i think but if its just for you and having a good time in have a go yourself mate its really not that hard once you get started
