Gear selection problems

Evenin all, i was having problems selecting first gear and sometimes second gear,when trying to get first i sometimes got reverse!!.after fitting the gear lever kit [ball joint thingy etc] i have no problems at all!! i'm really pleased
Next thing to do is front inner cv joints.
