Lamps in and out is a matter of taking the grille off (easy), four screws per lamp and a plug changeover.
In my case, the headlamps from JK didn't come in a left and right variety and I had to take one apart and put it back together the other way round ...which was a bit of a pain, as the screws weren't good quality and wore out ...had to cannibalise the old LHD lamp for screws then.
Setting the beam correctly was a somewhat laboured process due to that.
Don't know if that is the norm, or if my shipment was wrong
The problem with masked LHD lamps is that you really can't see a thing.
On dipped beam, the long finger of light which should theoretically illuminate the edge of the road is absent (or blinds oncoming traffic, if not masked) and all you're left with is diffuse light that reaches about 20 meteres ahead ...max.
Even on full beam (due to having obscured a fair percentage of your headlamp with masking tape) you're not getting all the light on the road.
Changing over to RHD lamps really doesn't cost that much and is easily the best investment in your (and others) safety that you will ever make.
(plus you're getting shiny new lamps that will be bright for years to come)
