Auto box & Alloys.

Post by KarlT »

Hi All.

Gone & bought another T25. 1990, 2WD, Caravelle.

Auto-gearbox needs sorting. All seems to work ok. 1, 2, D, N, R, & P are all OK, except no kick-down. Now I've been told this can be an adjustment problem. True? How do I adjust?

Has been lowered but.......
I'm wanting to improve ride quality. I'm thinking to put OEM spec alloys, springs & dampers back on it. Is the best place still VW? Or are there other firms with as good a quality but lower prices? Are caravelle lower than normal vans anyhow? What spec/sizes should I be looking at? Anywhere I can see photos of different types?

Anyone had those JK alloys? What did you think?

Have a look through the garage, get to look at other peoples van and see what they are running. have a carravelle auto my self which I have lowered 60mm and am running on porsche 928 slots. not sure of make of springs but does make the ride abit bumpy on certain roads. :D

The adjustment procedure is in the the Haynes Manual as well as the Bentley one. You can buy the Bentley one on a CD in everyone's favourite auction for a few quid! But I have uploaded a copy of the ATX linkage adjustment page here

Hope this helps

Guy said they were 45mm springs, which I think means 45mm shorter than stock. Which doesn't sound too bad but have already managed to hit the huge 18'' alloys on arch on an uneven bit of tarmac!

Steering isn't too bad for me but its going to be the wife's daily driver so need reduce the amount of rubber on the road.
