Leisure battery charge on mains hookup?

On a Westy should the 2nd/Leisure battery be charged up when on mains hookup?

It charges ok from the alternator but nothing on 240v.

Westys should charge the engine starting battary and the L/B. When you say second L/B have you got two.

Yep.

2nd battery under driver's seat for kitchen block/lights/stereo etc.

It charges up when engine is running but nothing when on 240v hook-up.
