engine number on my 1.9 n/a diesel,do dvla actually need it?

yo dudes,ive looked on the wiki and had a good search but cant find the necessary info.......i need to get the documents swapped over from 1.6 to 1.9 and i need the engine number off my 1.9 n/a for the documents on the van,do the dvla actually need the engine number or do they just need the exact cyclinder capacity....if they dont need it does anybody know the exact capacity...........cheers ducks

Think the DVLA would like the number but if you dont have it, and i dont think its hard to see from the engine bay then they will need to know and want evidence to support its capacity ie cs engine is a 1.6...
