Insure it as what it is, a panelvan, Doka, Camper etc...

The only problem sometimes is with panelvans as a lot of insureres cannot understand that they aren't all used for business purposes.

CIS are much more undertsanding than most, but will require a proper certificate I expect for LPG and if the engine is non-standard they'd want an engineer's (garage) report saying it has been installed to professional standards... (I imagine integrity of mounts, fuel system and wiring are key points). Even for a 1.9TD into a 1.6TD they wanted a report, but then they are no problem if you comply, and they don't rip you off for alloy wheels etc.

Syncro is just stated as such, as they are listed, and incurrs no comment.

HIC DO entertain Gasure certs - we've always been with them, two different vans - both with Gasure LPG. If HIC is no good to you, or you can't get an insurer who will accept your cetr - you can pay for another LPG installer to cert it for you - but it'll cost upwards of 50 quid......

On syncro or all T25?

Bob should have this on Wiki somewhere, will take a look later, we can copy this across if guff not ther already, though a bit specific (quoting Insurers!)

What are the 'facts' that would go in an FAQ?

There is the space for people to add there insurance details here:
http://www.club80-90.co.uk/wiki/index.p ... your_entry
the more the merrier, lets face it they have a database on us, lets have one on them!

Aiden RA Harper wanted some rediculous ammount (like £450 for me!) so I went with CIS in the end (£250 inc breakdown) at least they had a 1989 syncro caravelle on their web site, Aidirian flux, dont want to know. They transfered me onto another insurer without even explaining why. Guy cant find my van listed then says " I'll just look into that sir." Puts me on hold, the next thing a guy from a different insurance company picks up the call! cheeky barstewards!!

Never had any problem with RA Harper, talk to Steve Rawlings, tell him I sent you.
SA Velle, fully comp, agreed value at £5k, no no claims, £285
LHD Doka with NATO canopy fully comp. with AndySyncro as named driver in London, insured on VIN number from Germany, just renewed at £265 with now one years ncb, and third party cover for me to drive other's vehicles (which none of my other policies allow) seems good to me.
CIS are cheap but then certain members have found them to be stingy in the extreme when it comes to pay out..
you pays your money you makes your choice...I'm just offering RA Harper as a choice, well worth a call as one of the three minimum quotes you'd want to get..the market changes all the time, I know the products on offer change and prices quoted vary by the hour so it pays to shop around.
Also noe Admiral are to offer multiple vehicle/one household policies we can expect to see better rates for multiple vehicle owners : ))

Spoke to RA HArpers yesterday - very nice people. Unfortunatley a bit too pricey (£341) versus my HIC quote for 8 yrs NCB protected, Breakdown cover, arrgeed value for £276. Flux wanted £600!!!! Flux own HIC so don't understand that one :?

It's simple - different areas of a business, specialising in different areas of risk. That's all.

Very very surprised at the Adrian Flux thing Bob, I've insured the blue bus with bodykit, the subaru van with erm ..well a subaru fitted, and now the 16 with them, all with no problems at all.

And the 16's LPG'ed (they were more than happy with the Gasure cert)

That said . . I think I read somewhere they will only insure 'campers' i.e with fitted cooking / sleeping / water equipment . . .
