Is there a small silver hole in the dash? If so, it`s a DIN type plug-hole with 12V to it (should be anyway), you can either replace it with a UK type fag lighter socket, or piggy-back off it and cut another hole in the dash near to it and fit the fag lighter socket. Sockets available from a few places, try Maplin, or Towsure do `em with a rubber flap over `em.
Or do you want an actual fag lighter to light fags? If so, they are available from car accessory shops etc, or breakers yard from older cars.

Keep it real.

When you say the cig lighter is missing do you mean the whole thing, or just the element part?
I've just replaced mine with one from my local (42 miles away) scrappy. I only needed the element part, he gave me it if for nowt.
Any VW one should fit, just ask if you can try it.

Lighter socket.
As we don't smoke the usual lighter socket is for charging batteries, mobile phones as we are going along. This socket is wired to the main battery as usual.
I have also fitted another socket with 20amp wiring to the leisure battery so that the wife can use a 12volt hairdrier, etc. without taking the power I need to get the van started in the morning!
