Brake caliper seal kits

Post by cumbriankeith »

Anyone know where I can get a seal kit for early, ATE calipers. Neither GSF or Euro do them. JK list a kit but don't mention if they are for Girling or ATE. Or maybe VW can still supply? Anyone found a good source?

Had the same problem with my bus for MOT in the summer. Bleed nipples knckered so could not blled the system effectively. Tried all the usual suppliers but all they had were Girling. Mr. VW said he could supply nearside only @ £277 +VAT - very useful! Problem was finally cured by getting hte calipers reconditioned at a little firm in Wales for £167 all in for both sides including carriage. Will trry to find out who and where from the guy who did the job (VW Airfix in Carshalton Surrey - very good!)
My other car is a bus

I've had seal kits and fresh pistons for late ATE's from Brakes International. They may also do earlys. Check their online-shopping on their website. I had the calipers shotblasted, and after a coat of paint and the new parts, they're as good as new.

Brakes Inter are a great firm, if anyone has the stuff I would say it will be them. They are 10 minutes from me, I use `em regularly if you want some help Keith? They do a good price on recon/overhauled calipers, look like new when you get them, they are exchange though so your old calipers have to come back. Price I had last time (last month) was unbeatable and Maximus was very happy with it for his `van :)
Keep it real.
