stick together CV Boot?

Post by colouredFunk »

Hey, as I'm reasonably lazy I'm wondering what these split CV boot kits are like?

Has anyone used them before?

"super glue" is not flexible... best I can see is it gets it through an MOT...

If you like doing CV boots every few weeks then try it... or do them propperly once....
Just my opinion...

Streach ones... OK.. they could be ok.. but still have to remove the shaft to do it... so may as well fit the correct ones

I tried to fit one of these to my mates golf and ended up throwing it in the bin and goin to GSF to get a proper one. They are a complete waste of time and money.

...just realised that the MOT is due next week! Can you anyone give some pointers how to change over the CV boot and any special/handy tools I might need?

Cheers

If it's not an MOT fail, why have I been failed in the past for a torn CV boot? Or did I just take it to pedantic central?

As CJ pointed out only front outers are MOT items.

proper split boot kits are ok, used them loads of time.

as long as u use the properly, clean all the grease off stick them bit by bit use the proper glue not superglue.

oh and if you have any glue left, keep in you tool box as it sticks anything to anything.

as martin says they do actually work, if done properly and every part is grease free and clean, the "proper" glue IS superglue but in the manufacturers packaging ...

Whats the point f**king about with crappy stick together CV boots when the proper ones from GSF are cheap as chips and come complete with bolts, grease, clips and the like.

I also sell them, GSF ones at GSF prices.

One of the parts I need to take pictures of...
