Hot wiring my 1.7 diesel

My van got broken into and some little tykes tried to hot wire it. Thankfully my advanced anti-theft device (flat battery), prevented them from going anywhere. Unfortunately they've trashed the ignition and the key barrel has been snapped off. I need to get it to a garage but i don't want to pay for it to be towed.

Someone told me to connect the two red wires and it will start.

I've checked the wires and there is one red, one black and red and another red that splits into two small back wires.

Also what about warming the glow plugs before i try and start it.

Any advice will most appreciated.

Dude,

Sorry but, i dont think its appropriate to post stuff like that here - some little scrote will be reading it and learning how to nick vans....

I suggest you get the AA in - or call the garage that are going to fix it...

Other than that - are there any other members that are local to you ?
