seat belts

Post by Ray »

anyone fitted rear seatbelts in a van derived syncro. I assume it would be difficult to drill the sloping panel behind the R&r seat because of the petrol tanks position. Would floor fixing be possible, trouble is there is a gas tank under the seat now.

Hi Ray
I put seatbelts in on the rear bulhead and did it while the petrol tank was out, and could imagine it nigh on impossible otherwise
have you thought about a seat with the seatbelts incorporated, or is it a rock n roll bed you are after
is it still a panel van or have you put windows in?

Hi ray,
Just looked at the clearance on my 2.1 syncro16 with factory belt fixings. There is clearance to slide a plate in, with tapped holes (more so on near side). Off side would need to be tacked on to a thin strip of steel to aim into place. I would only contemplate drilling with either a mag mount drill (I have one) or a drill with a sleeve over the bit to stop rupturing the tank on break through. Nothing is impossible!
I notice you are in st albans. Im in cambridge so if you want to come over and use the drill and some assistance , give me a call on 07919 411208.
Pete.

Thanks for the replies. Its a camper conversion with rock and roll full width bed. Would be nice to have belts fitted but I suppose I should have done it before fitting the lpg tank or when the engine was out last august.
Just thought there might be some clever way round it. Looks like I'll have to wait till the engine is out again!
