Yep its broken!

Ok heres the story so far,i have an 81 1600ct the head has split and exhaust and all the tim ware is rotten oh and the carb has had it. I got the van for free in the summer and the body work is pretty much up together now. So now it comes to the engine or lack there of. I`m quite interested in an alternative engine but was unsure if any of the commonly discussed engines on this forum fitted on to my ct box without adpters ect. I am able to get hold of a 1600 diesel bellhousing sump radiator and lines. would this be worth looking into or should i hold out for a 2l air cooled with all the bits ie timware ect.
