sliding door help

Post by sixsprings »

will a sliding door from a year 90 van fit a year 80 van?
or are there two (or more) different types?

if vw did change the design what other years are compatable with a year 80 van?

if vw did change the design how hard is it to modify a year 90 sliding door to fit a year 80 van?

Early doors and late doors. Design changed on 31/07/84 and they are not interchangeable as far as I know

There is an early style.. upto 1985, then a late 1985 to end of production. The main difference is the striker plate on the C pillar. I have heard of people modifying, but is not a bolt on off situation. If yours is a 1980 then a 79-85 slider will fit and is refered to as an early one. The window and door handle are also different.
