speakers/ohm's Q !

have a unit that requires a 100w speaker but online manual i found states 11ohms , only uk loudspeaker i can find is 8ohms , will it work/not work/perform less/explode/make me pregnant ? :shock:

The lower the Ohms, the less resistance eg. 0 Ohms would be like a thick lump of copper wire or the bodywork of your van.
As Ohms is a measurement of resistance, the higher the Ohms, the more resistance there is.
What you dont want to do is go below a stated Ohmage rating.
So if your amplifier states 11 Ohms then its not adviseable to go below or lower than that figure otherwise you would be soing closer to 'shorting out' the amp.
The next common Ohmage for speakers is 16 but you could wire two 8 Ohms speakers in series to sive you 16 Ohms if applicable.
If you think it may make you pregnant however.... Can I be your manager?!!! :lol:

the 'unit' is an american ex police/fire n rescue siren siren

already thought of that! :wink: onus sell em for £60 but are rated at 8ohms , specialist emergency vehicle companies want silly money :cry: yank ebay here i come then ....................... :lol:
