Does lowering make steering harder?

Post by lambro28 »

Ok got some wheels on, now thinking do I lower it as well. Its an Autosleeper and has water tanks under its belly so I was thinking of going for the 45mm kit. BUT, does lowering your van make the steering any harder then it is already, or shouldnt it make any difference. Is about as hard as I would like to go now!

No mate - it shouldn't make a difference - it didnt with mine.

Make sure you get the tracking checked after you lower the suspension - it will probably be way out (like mine was)...

What tyres are you running, T25 steering isn't usually 'that' heavy!

No dont get me wrong its not "heavy heavy" its just I am limp wristed (read as a weakling) and dont want it to get any heavier then it is now

Tyre size is 195/65 * 15, the ET on my wheels is 35, but I used 10mm spacers after some backwards measurements on my behalf and to make sure the wheels cleared :!: Going to get and try some thinner spacers to see if the wheel still clear and to get the ET back to more normal limits.

Thanks for the replies, lowering it is then!

Also, don't come to Nottingham if you lower it..... :tsk

My Autosleeper's water tank catches on the big nasty speedbumps round here even driving very slowly and carefully, and it isn't even lowered.....

I was amazed when I picked up my van from the garage after it was lowered, it was such a different drive, much easier. More like driving a big car and you can sling it about more than before.
