Fitting a spare wheel carrier

I have just got a spare wheel carrier. One of the cheap ortec ones, but it'll do. How do i fit it? Do i just need a bit of angle iron for the plates? And what bolts should i use? AAARgh. Scared of drilling holes in my van!
