Whats the difference between the (left hand) type with "safety locks" (child locks?) and not?
My door has child locks but needs a new lock cylinder. I don't care if the child lock works and its operation seems to have no affect on the outside handle part of the mecanisum. All I want to know is what replacement handle/cylinder will fit in the hole - whats the difference?
Its the later type by the way, if you had to guess.

All ready tryed them, they said there are 2 part numbers depending on if its for a child lock door (which it is) or not. The normal type cylinder comes out, as you say at a barely resionable £20 odd quid plus vat. The child lock type (252 843 709A) like the knackered one on my van...£50 including VAT!! Thats just for the cylinder! They are taking the pi$$. Whilst having a new unwarn cylinder is preferable to a second hand worn one I'm not going to pay that for it. If a standard cylinder will fit I might consider buying one.
I don't care if keys are included with the cylinder as I have another N profile cylinder (not a slider cylinder though, not sure what it is but suspect ignition) I've already built to the VW logo'd key I want to use (which already does the tail, fuel and ignition).
All I need is a cylinder body thats not at a stupid price so I can stick the levers in it. I suspect if I go second hand it'll be easyer to get a complete handle than a tiny cylinder, I'll try if theres a saveing to be had and both are avalable. A cylinder with some random levers in it is preferable as that'd get me some spares when I get round to changing the front locks. Then again they need new cylinders too as the current ones are completely different to the N cylinders, I wonder if they are cheep pattern handles aswell or something (the cylinders almost certainly are). Knowing my luck I'll have to replace the hole handle there too. Thats a less important project though, as, despite being slightly anoying (in those petty but must be fixed kind of ways), they still function fine as doorlocks, unlike the broken slider one.
