Square headlight grill

Post by colynmac »

Picked up a very clean, complete square headlight and grill from a German trader at Vanfest.

I did look on the WIKI but all I saw was a SA conversion.

Is it a fairly easy swap over form the round headlght grill.

I know it has got to be a LHD set up, so do I just have to fit deflectors?

Any help/tips appreciatedon fitting this.

You need a couple of bracket to change from round to square.
I cant remember the part No. but I bought them from VW for a couple of quid.
Also there is an extra pair of lamps that have to be wired in too.
Depending on you MOT station you may have to swap baxk to your round ones for the test so don't be too quick in throwing em on Ebay.

These are the brackets that you need...

And if you're MOT tester says he cannot test your van with beam benders tell him to read his MOT testing guide....they're NOT an MOT fail.

Thanks guys for your help, and particularly G60Steve for the pics.

Brackets now on order.

Round to square. Confused ??

Post by colynmac »

Having seen G60's Pic on this conversion I have orderd the said brackets.

Go to do the swapover this morning and it looks like this bracket is not needed as that grill fits onto the square headlight bracket.

And to fit the square headlight bracket I need to remove two of the round headlight fixing brackets (which are the same as the ones I have ordered) to get the square headlght bracket on.

Confused?? I am.

Can anyone post a pic of a square headlght set up (without grill on obviously) and put me out of my misery.

Any help appreciated.

Half way down...."Masks or converter kits"

Right hand dip headlamps can be temporarily altered for use in the UK by fitting masks or converter kits which remove the beam 'kick-up' to the right.

A headlamp altered in this way is not a reason for rejection, if

a. the headlamp aim is not rejected for the reasons listed under diagram 1 (except that the top of the beam image will be a straight line)

b. the light output is not unduly
reduced - not usually a problem with commercially produced kits

c. the mask or converter is securely attached
