Idling, high revs ?

Post by mark206000 »

Have van running on gas at the moment and all was going well.

On way back from Donegal over bank holiday it would almost feel like the accelerator pedal would be sticking slightly, cruise control almost. But I oiled and greased all the movey bits at the carb and under the floor and nothing was even slightly sticky.

After another bit it started stalling when clutch went in and was idling very low just before it stalls. Sometimes when I gave it a blip to keep the revs up at red lights it would stick and stay that way, with alot of noise

Carb running very poor on petrol, flooding the man told me, could it just be knackered altogether now ?

Thanks for help... again :D

could be the autochoke spring is faulty or busted and the choke flap is not under control

take the spring housing off and check the operation

Could be crud in the carb.. any fault really..
good idea to get the kit.. if its anything like the vw one, it has most of the things in it... but not the accel pump diapragm and not the other little pumpy thing diaphragm, so check what fits where before dissmantling and dont remove those parts...
clean out all the jets and make sure you put them back in the place they came from.. try not to adjust any screws as this will be a base setting and as long as no one has messed should still be good..
