Leaded or unleaded ?

Post by guerrero »

Is my Ford engined type 25 leaded or unleaded ?
How can I tell ?
Can you run a leaded engine on unleaded fuel ?

Inherited this type 25 with a ford 2L pinto conversion but I know very little about the engine and im not sure whether the engine is leaded or not.

Advice appreciated.

Wow, isn't Google great - Pinto unleaded brings us this link on the first page:

Unleaded/LRP Pinto Engine. Some older Pinto engines are not suitable for unleaded fuel. You can check this on the 2.0Ltr engine by a series of stamped marking just behind & above the No. 4 spark plug. (Suitable for unleaded = L, P, PP, R, or RR).

Which is from a kit car build manual.

It's fastest finger first here, people.
