How do I clean my westy water tank?

Post by dublicious »

Lo Guys,

Never used our water tank before and thought I should give it a clean before drinking water out of it! How do you clean the westy tanks please and what products suit?

Appreciate the help ;)

J

Most people recommend the products such as Milton.

Cheers, I might have to give it a miss using the water tank. Got no way of flushing the solution through. Will get some anyway.

Cheers dude,

Can't you put the solution in, fill with water, drain water and solution through the drain plug under the van and then flush clean water through?
My van isn't leaking oil. It's just marking it's territory.

Just done mine with Puriclean. I took off the metal inspection cover from the cupboard above, then unscrewed the plastic bung, threw in the puriclean and got the hose pipe to fill it up. It looked like an Ibithan foam party but I managed to fill it in the end, then ran some of it through the system to clean out then tap and pump. It'll stay full 'till tomorrow night and then I'm gonna rinse it out with the hose pipe again, then fill it up. It's a big tank, so god knows how long it'll take on a campsite through the filler on the side of the van. We're only using it for the washing up though. Well, for now anyway.
