Well more advice really, i've found a machine shop so...for those of you that have done your dismantling and assembly a few questions.
is the crankshaft timing gear/sprocket? bolt a stretch one? how important is the thread lock type?.are all bolts that are tightened with a final 90/120 etc deg stretch ones?.
again any advice more than welcome.

There is a modified/upgraded cranckshaft sprocket bolt, which is a stretch type. You can tell the differenec as the new one has a small "pip" on the head-end of it in the middle (it`s also 12 sided) Make damn sure it`s tightened properly/tight enough, and I would use Loctite on it as well. They were modded due to the earlier types coming loose, the sprocket wears out its loctation notch, the timing belt jumps and then the engine gets wrecked (local VW dealer said it used to be common on the early TD engines (Golf, Passat etc)
Keep it real.
