Diff Query

Post by Arvi »

Happy New Year

General question i have a 1990 caravelle 2.1 DJ auto, fitted new VAG replacement engine

Noticed van gives a heavy thud when engaging reverse and noticed diff seals are leaking therefore think some work needs doing on it van has done 130k

Question will any second hand diff fit my van or will i need to use one off a van with same gearbox and engine spec or is it poss to recondition while it is still fitted to van?

Also has anyone ever fitted a turbo charger or super charger to these engines

cheers all

Output flange leaking oil - ? have you checked the level ? The seals can be replaced with box in situ - may need to source tidy flanges though if heavily scored on the seal face.
Best to stick with the same code box imho. You can't replace just the diff as the pinion is matched to the diff and is part of the gearbox -it's the second shaft.
For gearbox inqiries I recommend Shiplake Motors (Dave)
