Security query...

Post by Donna M »

I'm looking for some sorta steering wheel lock for my T25 - any suggestions / recommendations? I'm not keen to fit an immobiliser as I've heard horror stories of people with flat batteries being unable to get enough juice up to switch the immobiliser off etc etc - I must say Halfords selection all looked a bit 'small' for the large steering wheel on my bus...

TIA peeps...Mark O

Nice idea James - ta - BUT - I was hoping to put in a more 'visible' deterrent which would hopefully stop any thieving gits even attempting to get in...

one of the best and cheapest detterants (although nothing will stop the most avid thief) is a red LED (flashing prefered) mounted on top of the dash (use one of the old speaker holes). Wired perminantly (very small amp draw) it will flash away when ever you are parked up, they will not know if you have an alarm or not. You could always wire it through a switch that you can turn on when parked.

We got one of these from Halfrauds and it fits our steering wheel easily (we've got the original large steering wheel on the van, with no modifications):

The Halfords 4tress is very good. It's also thatcham approved aswell.
My van isn't leaking oil. It's just marking it's territory.

These will only fit power steering wheels, they don't do one big enough for a standard wheel.

the best thing to do is go into halfwits and ask, they will be more thanhappy to take a few outside and see what fits!

Wheel clamp on one of the outside wheels.
Complete with a fake "parking penalty" in a plastic bag taped to the windscreen when away from home.
Should deter the scumbags. ( they often aint very clever)

you could always simply pour a litre of oil onto the road behind the vehicle, then the theiving beggars will be discouraged by the fact it looks like it is going to break down.

or paint bugs and flowers all over it like we have :D
