I'm in the process of trying to wire in my 1992 2E GTI engine into my T25 so have been doing a fair bit of wiring research. It looks like the wire colours and locations vary depending on which engine year/model you have. On mine for example, the Black/Yellow wire is for the engine control relay. Here is a link to a site with lots of wiring diagrams for different engines. It only goes back to 1994. If you have a type 2E PM me your e-mail address and I will send you a diagram I was sent which has been useful.
Hope that helps.
Tim

On a similar topic, how do you use the fuel pump relay pin on the ECU to run the fuel pump. On the Autodata diagram it says it should be at 0-1V briefly with ignition on then 11-14V, dropping to 0-1V when the engine is cranking. So, should one side of the relay coil be connected to a 12V supply and the other to this pin? That way when the ignition is on, the 12V keeps relay open, but when cranking the drop in voltage switches the relay on and hence the fuel pump too?
Thanks. Tim.
