T25 engine gone, what to do now??

Post by mortcars »

Hi ive got an 81 t25 with the 1.9 wbx engine thats decided to die, im looking for an easyish conversion to a better engine? id love to diesel it but it looks difficult, ive looked over the forum and the alternative engine guids off BusGoofs and am thinkoing of either an aaz engine [but hard to get at a good price] or a 1.8/2.0 8v gti engine

i know the gti engine has gotta be the less difficult option but will it become even more uneconimical to run?

all i really need is advice on whats easier, ive got a few good mechanic mates but they are into old motors and not electronicy stuff

any help will be greatly appreciated

The 1.8 Gti lump Running Digifant is quite a good conversion. Should return about 28mpg if running properly and you are nice to it.

Wiring is simple from what I remember as the ECU just needs power, plus a few other little bits.

Trouble with K-jet, is the inflexibility of the metering head and the length of those high pressure lines. Although it does give slightly more power.

Either way, going from a 1.9WBX, ¥ou are going to need a complete diesel conversion kit (for both diesel and GTI)...

hi,i have a 1.9 non turbo peugeot engine conversion for sale!
everything needed including pipes/wires/mounts
was in an a reg van and was a recon engine(about 20000 miles)
complete with 4 speed gearbox
price up the aaz/ 1y engine conversion,
i want 850£ for the lot.
i can help with the fitting possibly and give all the info needed.
very little mods to the van itself, just a few holes drilled, no welding needed to fit!

just a thought
