The old Power Steering question

Post by nsclarke65 »

Hello,

Sorry for dragging this one up again but i've searched the forum for some answers but just need to clarify a few things.

I desperately need to sort out some kind of power steering for my bus, i am installing a Ford 2.9 Cosworth engine and would quite like to use the power steering pump mainly because it's unadvisable to remove the pump from the engine and i've got some large porsche wheels going on which would make the steering worse (plus my puny girlfriend will be driving and i can't hack more moaning!). Can anyone shed any light on the below?

1, Anywhere i can get hold of a power steering rack?
2, Surely the rack must have been used on other VW's i.e T4, passat, LT etc (Did VW make a bespoke rack for the T25?)
3, I have read about the Saxo electric pump system but confused to whether you need a power rack for this system to work.
4, Has anyone ever used another vehicle's rack and modified it?

Any help would be appreciated :D

P.S I have recently converted a post 85 sliding door to work on my 82 van. If anybody is thinking of doing this i have pictures and an easy way of doing it.
