Glowplugs?

Post by Balaclava »

I've looked at the Wiki but nothing there. I'm presuming T25 deisel engines have glowplugs like all other deisels, right?

I can't start my engine. The battery is fine and it tries to catch, almost but not quite. Put yet another new alternator belt on this morning. I've gone through about six in the past four months!

Do I need to relace the glowplugs? There looks like four of them.
1.6 turbo, deisel, water cooled. B reg van, engine a bit younger.

I had starting troubles a while back with my turbo diesel (it is a JX engine code), and I replaced the glow plugs and the relay that supplies power to them.

You could try replacing just the relay 1st, as the glow plugs are extremely fiddley (but not impossible) to replace without removing the fuel pump.

There is also a large 70 amp blade fuse which is located next to the relay that may need replacing.

I replaced all 3 items and have had no trouble at all (touching wood  )

Thanks for that.
Excuse ignorance but what is the relay and where exactly is this blade fuse?

Here's me thinking it would be easy to get the plugs out! Why is everything so awkward to get at on these engines?

It`s all in the black plastic box at the nearside clutch end of the engine bay. Lid clips off and it`s all in there.
Keep it real.
